The area had received
measurable precipitation the night before, which was evident at the time of the
inspection.
Inspected the recently completed Phase IVC liner barrier, the 4 inche solution
distribution pipe was in place .Mark stated that the 10 inche solution collection pipes
will be connected with in the next few days and the exposed liner covered with 2 feet
drain cover material as approved in Amendment # 8 and TR 48.
Inspected the Phase I, II, III & IV valley leach facility and recorded the following
readings from the High and Low Volume Solution Collection Transducers.
Phase I High Volume Solution Collection Transducer #1 was recorded at 7.0 #2 was at 47.2
#3 was 48.3 Piezometer for the pond was at52.3 feet. Low Volume transducer # 1 was at .32
& #2 was at .54.
Phase II & III High Volume solution collection transducer # 4 was recorded at 38.3 * 5 was
at 39.2 and # 6 was at 40.5. Piezometer for the pond was recorded at 42.5 feet.
Phase IV High Volume SOlutlOn CO11eCtlOn transducer # 7 was recorded at 45.4 # 8 was at
46.2 #9 was at 46.9 and # 10 was at 46.9. Low volume transducer # 1 was recorded at 11.4
and # 2 was 9.4 inches of hydrostatic head.
An auxiliary pump was noted pumping solution from the Phase IV, low volume sumps on to the
pad, this solution even though at present is only approximately 6ppm wad cyanide
concentration, some ponding of this solution, a very small amount was noted along the west
side of the Low Volume Solution readout out meters. Mark vanoni contacted Denny Deemer,
the pad manger and Mr. Demmer stated that in order not to exceed the maximum allowable 2
feet head on the double lined system over the weekend, the temporary pump was placed which
caused the small ponded area. He stated that CC&V is working on a permanent solution so
they will not have to place additional pumps to pump the low volume solution, each time
the pregnant solution storage is running high.
This small area receives surface water drainage from the load out bin area which causes
siltation and hence prevents percolation. CC&V had attempted to rectify the surface water
drainage problems but until the load out bin is moved to the new location and ore is
loaded on Phase IVC, adding low volume solution in addition to the surface water drainage
only exasperates the problem.
Inspected the External pond, it was holding some water, Low volume solution transducer # 1
was recorded at 11.4 and # 2 was at 9.4 inches of hydrostatic head.
Inspected the under drains all the lower ponds were dry. The dissipation (surface water
diversion sumps were holding some water from the recent rains.
Both the South and 4 inches pipes were discharging, a split sample was collected for wad
cyanide analysis and delivered to the CDOH&E lab the same day.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: TIM COMER
OPERATOR: CC&V cc: r CE
STREET: P C)_B(~X 791
r BL
CITY/STATE/ZIP: vicrne ~~i ~RAn~ ant3~n r FS
r HW
r HMWMD (CH)
r
r SE
