~i
II. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection
and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
Wildlife
Signs of heavy recent elk use were evident in various locations along the haul road and at the portal
area. Two coveys of chukar partridge were observed along the road.
Offsite Support Facilities
At the Loma loadout site, seeded wheatgrass had recently initiated spring growth. The grasses, from
the seeding in 2004 are scattered throughout the site, with patches of relatively high density
interspersed with patches of lower density. There has been poor establishment of seeded shrubs, with
shrub establishment primarily limited to a small area at the far west end of the site. Winter annual
mustards (Chorispora and Sisvmbrium) have also recently initiated growth, although density of annual
weeds seems to be lower than last spring.
The mine I.D. sign at the loadout needs to be updated.
A couple old tires were dumped near the sign, and need to be properly disposed of.
5
