Letter to Bob Oswald
Date: June 25, 2001
infornation, would it be possible [o obtain from your files copies of maps showing
the permitted boundazies for the Monogram and Jo Dandy areas? I could then have
these transferred to the topo bases and we would have a more useful set of maps.
2. Features on the maps which you and I shazed during the Inspection do not always
match the features on the topo base, and this is not too surprising considering that
mining was probably conducted after the topo maps were created. Trails throughout
the properties do not always match the trails showm on the topo bases. Also the mine
names shown on the topo base may or may not match the names on the original
UMETCO permit application. Perhaps this can be resolved by transferring the
original permit information cnto the topo bases I have. Is this a reasonable way to
attempt to update the maps so your records and ours match?
3. Your Inspection Report for the Monogram - Jo Dandy azea is shown as "Monogram
Mines Permit No. M-1978-222-UG." I do not know the history of the combining of
the vazious Permits that UMETCO held for these properties. The previous Inspection
Report was presented as "Monogram - Jo Dandy Mines Permit No. M-77-293."
Would you please clazify which Permit is in effect and which mines it covers so I can
properly document this in our records?
4. From the limited information I have located in our files, it appears that the small
outlined areas ("Affected Areas") on the November 20, 1995 map submitted by R.A.
VanHorn of Energy Fuels may comprise the "permit azea." Again, if you can confirm
the permit area boundaries for me, I can update the draft map I reviewed with you and
we can have a useful map of [he properties.
5. Regarding the need to post a sign for the Permit on the Monogram - Jo Dandy mines,
since there are a number of small mines under one Permit, 1 propose we only provide
one sign. I would like your thoughts on where this sign would be most effectively
placed. I think it would be most relevant if placed on the County Road that passes
through the property area. Placing a sign at any one of the individual mines would
put it in a location where no one would likely ever see it. Your thoughts please.
As soon as possible, I would like to update the topo maps I shazed with you on [he inspection.
This will give us both good quality updated maps. I can complete this is a short period after I
receive the information I noted in items 1 and 2 above. I think if we can get a usable set of maps,
then we can decide how to best proceed.
I look forward to receiving your comments and information. My direct phone number is 303-
389-4161.
Best regards,
~~
Terry V. Wetz
Director of Project Development
