• (Page 2) •
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-86-105
INSPECTION DATE 01/5/99 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS ESC
OBSERVATIONS
This was a normal inspection of the Vondy Pit conducted by Erica Crosby of the Colorado
Division of Minerals and Geology. Vernon Dilley~representing Dilleys Sand & Gravel was
present during the inspection. Weather conditions on site were cool and windy. Ground
conditions were dry.
The mine site is located 13 miles north of Snyder in Morgan County. The open pit sand and
gravel mine encompasses a permit area of 9.9 acres. The pit area is less than 5 acres in
size and ranges in depth between 25 to 30 feet. No mining was taking place during the
inspection, but the operator anticipates mining within the next few months. The direction
of mining will move toward the south. The site has not encountered any ground water. The
material is screened, stockpiled and haul off site. Overburden piles and topsoil piles were
noted on site. The piles have a large concentration of Russian Thistle that should be
controlled this spring. The Division recommends after weed control is initiated, the piles
be seeded with a cover crop to prevent weed growth and to control erosion.
A mine ID sign was posed, and all information appeared accurate. Permit boundary markers
could not be located in the field. The operator will need to post the permit boundary
markers around the permit area as required by Rule 3.1.12 of the Construction Material Rules
and Regulations. See page #3 for further detail.
The Division currently holds a performance bond in the amount of $5,000.00. The Division
will reevaluate the cost to perform reclamation on site to determine if an increase is
warranted. The operator will be informed of any possible increase to the bond within 60 days
of the receipt of this report.
I & E Contact Address
NAME Vernon Dillev
OPERATOR Dillev's Sand & Gravel
STREET 1914 Edmunds Street
CITY/STATE/ZIP Brush, Colorado 60723
CERTIFIED Pe!?~~I~ PLO.
