COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE IVs" ~rks ~., g3~5~
Q 6tic ov ~~
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations
made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during
the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was an aerial inspection of the Twin Pines Mine. The photographs were taken by
Harry Ranney of CDMG. The bond for this site has been forfeited and reclamation
was completed by DMG. The weather appeared to be overcast and there was
snow on the ground.
The portal area is well vegetated and appears to be in good condition. The highwall
that remains appears to still be stable. When comparing the current pictures with
ones taken in March, 1999, there does not appear to be any significant change
(including "new" rocks falling). The road to the portal area appears to be in good
condition.
The coal sales/tipple area is also in good condition. The vegetation seems to be
better since there has been no grazing in this area since about the beginning of
summer (2000). The remaining pond does contain water and appeared to be in
good condition. The road leading to this site is a county road.
