An inspection was made of the Aldrich Pit ae part of the Division's I&E Program.
2. The Aldrich Pit ie permitted for a disturbance of 9.7 acres. The poet-mining land use
ie agricultural.
3. All mining has ceased at the Adrich Pit. Riowa County began reclamation during the 1996
field season. All elopes have been backfilled and graded to an acceptable configuration and
all available topsoil has been applied. Seeding will occur in the spring of 1997.
4. The operator has done an excellent job in reclaiming the pit to blend in with the
surrounding agricultural land. A small stockwater catchment basin was installed to collect
stormwater. There was plenty of livestock present in and adjacent to the reclaimed area.
5. Riowa County will be required to demonstrate establishment of a diverse and permanent
vegetative cover on the reclaimed land prior to release of reclamation liability. Therefore,
the operator should consider the use of temporary fencing following seeding in 1997.
I & E Contact Address
NAt~ Rick Soadv
OPERATOR Kiowa County
STREET P.O.
