III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion.of observations made <br />during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection <br />and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />This was a complete inspection conducted by Joe Dudash of the Colorado DMG. No one represented <br />the operator during the field inspection. Bill Bear represented the operator during the records check. <br />The area had received about 2.5 feet of snow a couple of weeks ago and a much smaller amount over <br />the weekend. The entire mine site had about 1.5 feet of snow cover at the time of the inspection.. <br />Roads <br />The entrance road was covered in snow but was passable on foot. The bridge was intact and the front <br />gate was open. <br />Signs and Markers <br />The mine 1D sign was up at the entrance and contained the correct information. The disturbed area <br />markers were covered in snow. <br />Hydrologry_ <br />The sediment pond was covered in snow. The Edward Mine portal spring treatment pond was covered <br />in snow as well. The water surface was snow covered and was at its normal discharge level. The pond <br />was discharging at about 20 gpm. <br />The other sediment control structures were covered in snow. <br />Facilities <br />There were no problems observed with the office building. <br />Slides <br />There was no evidence of recent slides within the disturbed area at the mine site. However, the large <br />slide to the west of the mine site disturbed area continues to slowly move. <br />c:/word/bear3/insp0104 <br />
