(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-1977-"1(,s
INSPECTION DATE: s-tl-nl
OBSERVATIONS

INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: ~lL
Completed an inspection of this site as part of a Mined Land Reclamation Board directive to inspect every mine in the state
at least once every four years.
This is a 4 acre Limited Impact Permit located about 9 miles east of Hartsel on County Road 59.
Only a small portion of the permit area has been disturbed. Except for the north highwall in the south pit, the excavated
areas have been adequately graded. The north highwall in the south disturbance is rather steep which will be a real
challenge to revegetate. Overall, it appears the entire site will be a problem to revegetate. The thin veneer of growth
medium that exists in this part of the county apparently was not salvaged since it appears growth medium has not been
replaced in the disturbed areas. As a result, vegetative cover is sparse to nonexistent. Revegetating this site will probably be
areal challenge. It may be in the county's best interest to contact the NRCS for some advice since the site has been in
reclamation since 1995 without success.
There are three problems noted on page 3 of this report. One involves grading the north highwall in the south pit. If the
gradient is 3:1 or less it will make it much easier to establish a vegetative cover. The other two problems involve the density
and diversity of the vegetation in conjunction with the approved reclamation plan and requirements of the Act/Rules.
The corrective action due date for all three problems is set for the future so you can initiate an aggressive reclamation plan.
Did not observe any other problems at the site.
& E Contact Address
NAME: Robert Vance
OPERATOR: Park Counri
STREET: P.O.
