The possible violations should be <br />corrected by the dates given to reduce their severity when considered by the Mined Land Reclamation Board. The inspector noted <br />on the previous page should be notified of all corrective actions taken. <br />PROBLEMS/POSSIBLE VIOLATIONS <br />AND <br />CORRECTIVE ACTIONS <br />CORRECTION <br />DATE <br />1. Numerous fuel tanks and 55•gallon drums were stored within the pit area. Fuel tanks were empty, several 55-gallon drums <br />contained lubricants. Minor fuel leak was observed from a distributor truck. Fuels, lubricants and chemicals need to be stored <br />in a controlled manner, at a designated location, with adequate spill prevention and spill containment conuols to ensure spilt fool <br />or fluids not escape and degrade quality of ground and surface waters (Rules 3.1.6 and 3.1.71. <br />CORRECTIVE ACTION: Properly store all fuels and lubricants in a controlled manner. Provide adequate spill containment <br />structures for all liquid chemicals and(or petroleum products stored on site. Pursuant to Rule 4.2.1, DMG will review the amount of financial warranty required for the Cortez Pit. A detailed estimate of the <br />recalculated cost, based on the approved Mining and Reclamation Plans and conditions observed during the inspection, will be <br />forthcoming. <br />CORRECTIVE ACTION: Pursuant to Rule 4.2.1(21, should DMG review and recalculation indicate that the current amount of <br />financial warranty is insufficient to perform reclamation, the operator shall have up to sixty 160) days to post additional financial <br />warranty from the date of written notice of such insufficiency.
