(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-2001-077
INSPECTION DATE: 6-29-05
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS GRM
This inspection was conducted as part of the normal monitoring program established by the Colorado Division of
Minerals and Geology. The Piceance Creek pit is a 110c permitted site run by the County of Rio Blanco. The
inspection is pazt of the normal monitoring of sites and a review of a Technical Revision to change the configuration
of the lake proposed in the final reclamation plan. The inspector was to meet with County representatives.
However, a scheduling change had the inspector in the azea several hours before the agreed upon time with the
operator. The inspector conducted the inspection and called the County to avoid unnecessary travel on their part.
The mine identification sign and affected area boundary markers are in place and incompliance with Rule 3.1.12.
The sign is cleazly located at the entrance to the mine. Boundary markers include t-posts and fences that cleazly
define the permit area.
The site was active with both mining and reclamation. The inspector observed topsoil from stockpiles being used to
establish slopes along the western edge of mined out azeas. De-watering was being conducted using a trench azound
the northern perimeter to a sedimentation pond and then pumping into the irrigation ditch adjacent to the pemut azea
as approved in the permit. A portable conveyor belt was being transported in to the pit azea. Small stockpiles of
materials were noted but it appeazs to be mostly unprocessed in nature.
No hazazdous materials or fuels were noted on site. There was no unnecessary debris on site as well. No significant
infestations of noxious or other problematic weeds were noted on site during this inspection.
Storm water and sedimentation controls appear to contain run on and off within the site. No erosion or off site
damage was noted.
Overall, the site is clean and well run. No issues or problems aze noted at this time.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Russ Means at the Division of Minerals and Geology, Grand Junction
Field Office, 101 South 3rtl Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, phone no. 970-241-1117.
I & E Contact Address cc:
^ CE
NAME: David Morlan ^ BL
OPERATOR: Rio Blanco Co. ^ FS
STREET: 570 Second Street ^ H~v
CITY/STATE/ZIP: Meeker, CO 81641 ^ HMWMD (CH)
^ WOCD (CH)
^ OTHER
