The inspection was also conducted to verify the current condition of the site for use in recalculating and updating the reclamation cost estimate. The permit for this site has been revised to allow the BLM to hold the recWmafion bond while DMG holds the minimum allowable $100.00 financial warranty amount A copy of this report, including the reclamation cost estimate calculation, is being forwarded to the Glenwood office of the BLM. The mine identification sign and affected area boundary markers are in place and in compliance with Rute 3.1.12. No sign cant erosional features were noted on the affected areas of the site. Problematic weed infestation was observed within the reclaimed area. The infestation, if not controlled, will most likely hinder and/or delay successful reclamation of this site and passibty Contribute to off-s(te spreading and establishment of these weeds. Please (ndipte what measures will be taken to improve weed control and, if appropriate, submit a technical revision to incorporate these measures into the permit. Weed infestation is noted as a problem, with the corrective action(s) and corection date specifted on the last page of this report Significant progress toward control of on-site weeds must be demonstrated within three years to avoid potential Board action. In an effort to ensure the financial warcanty remains adequate to reclaim this site per the requirements of the approved reclamation plan, DMG has updated the reclamation cost estmate (copy enclosed). Please review the enclosed figures as soon as possible and contact our office if any calculation errors are noted. Gieariy, review of the enclosed estimate indicates the site Is curcen8yuoder-bonded. Therefore, pursuant to Section 34.32,5-117(4) ofthe Colorado Land Reclamation Act, adequate financial warranty must be submitted within 80 days of the mail)ng data of this report. A financial warranty in the amount of 534, 385.00 must be submitted to, and accepted by the BLM by December 27, 2002 with documentation of BLM acceptance submitted to DMG, by that date. Also, financial warranty in the amount of $100.00 must be submitted to, and accepted by DMG by December 27, 2002. Upon receipt and acceptance of both the BLM and DMG portions of the financial warranty, the $30,000.00 financial warranty curcentry held by DMG will be released. Past inspection reports indicate that the BLM has requested that the west highwall not be mined further for fear of adverse Impacts to the slope below and behind the highwall crest, outside the permit boundary. To account for reclamation of this highwall, under these conditions, the reclamation cost estimate includes a task for backftliing the current west highwall to a 2H:1 V slope poor to soil application and revegetaGon measures. Future excavation along the west side of the pit should be conducted at a maximum 2H:1V slope to avoid the need to Increase the financial warcanty for atlditlonal required highwall balling. The fuel tank for the screen plant is currently located in a large depression that holds the screen and the fuel tank. Mr. Mayne indigted that the screen would be relocated soon. Upon relocation of the plant, the fuel tank will need to ire located within a spill containment structure to minimize potential impacts to the hydrologic balance in the event of a spill.
