III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made during <br />the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the <br />facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />This was a partial inspection conducted by Tom Kaldenbach of the Colorado Division of Minerals and <br />Geology. Ross Gubka and Tony Adkins represented the operator. With the operator's consent, this <br />report was issued from the Denver office. <br />The ground was dry. There has been little precipation the last few weeks and grasses that are not <br />irrigated have begun to turn brown. The pit is active just east of 2700 Road. <br />HYDROLOGIC BALANCE: <br />Monitoring Wells -The following monitoring wells had caps in place on their wellheads and <br />appeared in good repair: GW-N16P1, 17P1, and 18P1; GW-N-44,45, and 46; and GW-N-40. <br />Ponds - <br /> Condition Condition of At least <br />Outfall Pond Estimated discharge °f <br />discharge embankments 60% Comments <br /> <br />structure and inslopes capacity ? <br />007 7 0 Not inspected <br />008 8 0.5 cfs Good Good Yes Discharge was <br /> clear water. <br />009 9 dry t Good Yes <br /> inspec <br />ted <br />SURFACE FACILITIES: <br />No problems were found in the surface facilities area. Fuel tanks had adequate spill control barriers. <br />TOPSOIL: <br />Topsoil stockpiles at the following three locations had adequate vegetative cover and were not rilled or <br />Bullied: next to the boxcut spoil pile, near the active pit, and along the south permit boundary. These <br />topsoil stockpiles were adequately marked and had no weed problems. <br />REVEGETATION: Sprinklers were irrigating revegetated areas at several locations. Revegetated <br />areas appeared in good shape throughout the mine. No weed problems were found. <br />
