~J
INSPECTION REPORT - PAGE 2
FILE N0. M-76-009
DATE: July 8, 1986
OBSERVATIONS OF IMPORTANCE:

1. The main purpose of this inspection was to view the proposed ex~~ansion
area (121 acres) of the quarry.
2. Natural topography on site is steep with vertical walls. Many ~~f these
walls are over 80 feet. This is the proposed reclaimed highwall height.
3. The access road is directly adjacent to Turkey Creek and is berned to
direct flows away from the creek. The creek was flowing at the time of
the inspection.
4. There are currently two sediment collection areas on site. The operator
indicated that at the request of the county they are working with the
Soil Conservation Service to devise a sediment control plan applicable
for the life-of-mine. The operator agreed to submit a copy to he
Division to incorporate into the permit.
5. Several areas on the south-southeast portion of the permit areas have
been regraded and seeded. The operator was continuing regrading work in
this area. A small areas which was disturbed outside the original
permit area has also been reseeded. Seeding was done this spring and
thus far very little grass has come up. The vegetation in the~;e areas
is predominately weeds. Reseeding may be necessary after weed control
is practiced.
6. A powder magazine is located across the access road from the scale
area. It was not included in the expansion areas. If this is part of
the quarry operations it must be included within the permit ar~~a.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
ACB/ddt
2128E
