~ S (Page 2) •
~ MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-92-007
INSPECTION DATE 09-28-99 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS CBM
OBSERVATIONS

This was a pre-operational and follow up inspection done by Carl Mount as
part of the Division of Minerals and Geology routine inspection program.
Photographs were taken of the permitted area and the proposed amendment area.
The present site disturbance was evaluated and determined to be included
within the presently permitted area. The amendment area has been properly
marked and flagged. All boundaries of the amendment area were observed and
walked.
This pit has a large stockpile of roadbase material in the middle of the pit
and has been essentially mined out. Brush and topsoil has been pushed to the
lower part of the hill that this pit is located on which will make it a
challenge to redistribute the topsoil when reclamation is being done. The
operator wishes to extend the pit to the south and mine out the rest of the
hill in that direction.
A problem was noted with accelerated erosion at this site during the
inspection of July. Water was running out of the pit to the northeast and
carrying sediment down the road ditch and into an ephemeral drainage. This
problem has been addressed by the building of a berm to contain all the pit
runoff within the disturbed area. Also, the operator has built a series of
collection ditches and berms down the steep disturbed area to the east of the
pit. This area was the one showing the most accelerated erosion. The
problem noted in the July inspection report is considered abated.
No problems were noted during this inspection.
I & E Contact Address cc:
^ CE ^ HW
NAME Mr. Marvin Moore ^ BL ^ HMWMD (CH)
OPERATOR Moffat County ^ FS ^ SE
STREET P.O.
