Soda Lakes Sand & Gravel - operation in the Mt. Carbon dam area, located
within the N. W. 4-, Section 6, Township 5 South, Range 69 West, Jefferson County.
The Land Reclamation Board moved in favor of releasing the certificate of deposit
to Mr. George Pallaoro at the meeting on January 20, 1976. I returned the
certificate of deposit to Mr. Pallaoro and obtained his signature on a release.
2. Investigation of a sand and gravel operation one and one half miles south of
Bowles Avenue on the Platte River, as a result of a call from a citizen
(h1r. Kautscky). This operation is being conducted by Central Construction Company.
Mr. Kautscky has since been informed that we will contact Central Construction
Company for an application for an open mining permit when our new application
forms are available.
3• Colorado Western Development Company (Developers of Perry Park Subdivision).
As a result of a telephone call from Mr. John Law, a resident of Perry Park, this
operation was investigated.
The operator and developer had removed rip-rap from one-half acre in a canyon south
of the horse training area near the west end of the development. This rip-rap was
used by the developer to reinforce other areas of the subdivision against erosion.
This small pine tree bordered canyon contains a small stream (Bear Creek) a few
feet wide. The stream is strewn with boulders, but this is also true of the stream
above and below this worked-over area.
The disturbed area is small in square footage (200' x 50') and apparently had been
used for a rip-rap source in years past. After the rock removal, the area has been
left level next to the stream. There are a few pieces of pipe lying around and a
fuel tank on the east side up the hill. There is no operation taking place there now.
This would appear to be mainly a.n internal problem between the developer and the
and the home owners. I called the Colorado Western Development Company in Larkspur
and suggested that they might clean this area up by removing the small amount of
