III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made <br />during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection <br />and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />This partial inspection of the Amess McGriffen Mine was conducted by DMG staff from the Durango <br />Field Office, 701 Camino del Rio, Room 125, Durango, CO 81301, phone (970) 247-5469. The permit <br />for the Arness McGriffen Mine was revoked; financial warranty was forfeited and utilized for final <br />reclamation. <br />Public access to the site and adjacent state lands is controlled by locked cable closure across the <br />entrance road. The cable was secured. No vehicle tracks were observed in the fresh snow cover. <br />Snow cover was approximately 12" depth. No activities were observed, no personnel were <br />encountered during the inspection. Cable guardrail was intact. Illegally dumped garbage, noted in <br />previous reports, was not observed. Evidence of wildlife was abundant. Tracks of elk, deer, coyote, <br />rabbit, various small mammals and birds were observed in the snow. Site appeared stable. <br />
