The mine Is edJvey produdng coal. The area <br />had received a considerable amount of wet snow the previous week, and R reined between the first <br />and second days of the Irrepectlon, so much of the mine albs was wet and muddy. <br />$ggQ~ were inspected, and comments are noted on the attached page. <br />Jtoada were In good condition, but road ditches were in need of meirrtenence. The ditch along the <br />fadnUes roadway behind the warehouse wore Tundlonal, but needed in be meirttalned. The sump at <br />the INet end of the Pond 5 Inlet culvert was Tull to the bottom edge of the culvert Sediment had <br />aocumulabed ib the krwer edge of the culvert below the truck scale entrence. EFCI should consider <br />removing the sediment from these sumps before it axumulates in the culverts. <br />~Qrol ,qic Balance <br />Pond 1 held water rlgM at the top of The discharge gate. A small amount of water was triclding out of <br />the outran, apparently due to a fault' seal at the gate. Ttda needs ib be corrected. Sediment et the <br />pond was wen below the outlet level. Pond 2 held water appro~dmatey 2' below the merdmum <br />allowable level. There appeared m be a corraiderable amount of sediment in the pond. Dredging of <br />Pond 5 bed bean oomplebed and the dregnne romoved. The weber level was Just below the gate <br />bottom. Two ducks were on the pond. The refuse pile sediment pond held water well below the <br />drscharge level. There was a dells of sediment at the inlet poirrts, but the level was below deanout <br />level. Inlets to the pond were stable. <br />The Magpie Creek dMeralon was stabb and free of debAs. Flow was observed M the drennel on <br />Marsh 27, the second day of the inspection. <br />The rock dust tank and e~loaivea bunker area sediment control atnuturea wero In place functior-al. <br />There was an area of sediment depositlon on the north side of the Ught use road >b the bunker, whk:h <br />was the result of road ne1oR from the adjacent Newlin Creek Mine. <br />Reflme was being hauled m the disposal area and placed on the upper bench. A greder was greding <br />the pAe >p eliminate s6ending pools of water and malnmin gredient off the pUe. The colledton ditch <br />around the pne needs to be maintained, on the north side of the pile where the drainage breaks Into <br />two directions, so that water flows freey. There were two areas of standing water right et the drainage <br />break poUtt <br />Revegemtlon <br />The reclaimed part of the refuse pile was in good condition. No new gullle8 were observed, and Tilling <br />from previous years was stabilfdng. There were a few plats on the east aide where flow had errtered <br />smell animal bunowa, but no rills had resulted. These areas should be monlbored for future instabUily. <br />Vegetaton on the pile was starting >p tum green. <br />~y stxl~Ues were stable, and property Iderrtlfled. Topsoil stockpile No. 1, which wore reshaped <br />last summer, had grass coming up on the reseeded areas. <br />Offeite S~Ipport FaciUtles <br />Both loadout area ponds were dry. The attemate sediment control measures in place on small areas <br />o/ the loadout were in place and In good condition. Rills that were repaired last fall remetned stable. <br />Vegetation is starthg m come on wtlh amen dumps of grass visible under the donnent canopy of <br />kodYa. <br />
