111. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made <br />during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection <br />and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />This was a partial inspection of the Coal Ridge Mine conducted by Erica Crosby of DMG. No <br />company representative was present during the inspection. The Coal Ridge Mine is in reclamation <br />only status. The inspection involved viewing three aerial photographs taken by Harry Ranney of DMG <br />on May 9, 1997. <br />Roads The road leading into the Coal Ridge Mine was noted in all three photographs. The road <br />appeared functional and in good repair. <br />Hvdrologic Balance The sediment pond appeared to be dry in all three photos. Vegetation was <br />noted on the pond embankments. Ditches were noted in the photographs, and appeared to be in <br />good repair. No major erosion features were noted. <br />Backfilling & Grading The backfilled and graded area showed no signs of instability or erosion. The <br />bench terraces appear stable as well as the portal areas. Numerous cows were seen grazing on the <br />reclaimed terrace benches. <br />
