(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-1977-062
INSPECTION DATE 4-11-2003 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS SSS
OBSERVATIONS
This monitoring inspection was conducted as a follow-up to DMG s 11-20-2002 inspection, to evaluate corrective actions taken
for problems noted in that report.
The required reclamation bond increase has been submitted to and accepted by DMG as required to correct problem no. 2
listed in the previous inspection report.
The critical area revegetation along J-35 Road has been pocked with small depressions estimated at 2-3 feet in diameter and 1
foot in depth. The operator indicated that fertilizer (per soil analysis results) and seed mix (per TR-04) has been applied except
for the micro-nutrients that the resource conservation personnel indicated should be applied later this spring, when the shrubs
are planted. The Siberian pea shrubs are reportedly due to arrive in the next couple of weeks and will be planted at that time.
One concern noted during this inspection is that the mulch has not yet been applied. The mulch is critical to maintaining
moisture in the soil for germination and growth of the seeded vegetation. It is probably best that the magnesium sulfate and
zinc sulfate be applied before the mulch and tackifier. All of these tasks need to be completed as soon as possible, to take
advantage of spring moisture and retain as much as possible for as long as possible. Please notify DMG, preferably with
photographic documentation, as soon as the remaining revegetation tasks for this critical slope have been completed
(micronutrient application, pea shrub planting mulching, tackifier application).
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Steve Shuey at the Division of Minerals and Geology, Grand Junction
Field Office, 101 South and Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, phone number 970-243-6368.
I & E Contact Address
NAME Edward Benson
OPERATOR Benson Brothers
STREET 2134 J-50 Road
CITY/STATE/ZIP Austin.
