The Colorado River Pit has
no issues and a quick review of the bond shows it to be adequate at this time.
The Carol Ann and Montgomery both have noxious weed problems but as we discussed, the problem
will be abated with the Weed Control Plan in progress at this time for all Old Castle SW pits under
B&B.
B&B /Old Castle has done a great job on getting started on the clean up of the Montgomery Pit. Staff
looks forward to seeing the end result. These efforts go a long way in the PR department. Continue to
monitor oil spills and such as the clean up efforts progress to minimize possible contamination of ground
water. The bond for this site has not been reviewed since 1993 and will be done in the next 30 days.
Please be awaze that it could lead to a major increase For no other reason than 10 years of inflation.
If you need additional information, please contact me at the Division of Minerals and Geology, Grand
Junction Field Office, 101 S. 3rd St., Suite 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, telephone no.
970.241.1117.
Sinqc~erel/y,~~~, ~j~
//• .~'~I~v'yv v
G.
