III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the mspechon The comments include discussion of observations made
dunng the mspechon Comments also descnbe any enforcement actwns taken during the inspection
and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was an aerial inspection flown by Harry Ranney of the Colorado Division of
Reclamation, Mining, and Safety (Division) Oblique aerial photographs were taken and
reviewed in the office by Kent Gorham of the Division on January 19, 2007 This former
mountaintop removal operation is In the final stages of completing reclamation. Numerous
severe snowstorms have occurred in the region since the last on-the-ground inspection. The
site is nearly totally snow-covered with the exception of steeper southwest-facing slopes.
Roads and ponds are snow-covered. The permanent road through the reclaimed area
appears to have been cleared of snow, likely to allow passage of service trucks for the coal
bed methane extraction activities in the adjacent area,
It does not appear that any significant runoff due to snowmelt has occurred, I~kely due to only
beef periods of above freezing temperatures that limits any significant melting. No slumps,
slides, or cracks indicating mass movement were observed in any of the photographs taken
Nothing warranting immediate on-the-ground inspection was noted.
