energy fuels coal, inc. ~
southlield mine post office box 459 florenca, coloredo 61226 (719) 7646395
RECEIVED
October 13, Zoos OCT 17 2005
Mr. Tim Burnell -Reclamation Specialist Division of :finera)s s Geology
Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology
1313 Sherman Street -Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
RE: Comments -September Coal Inspection Report
Kerr (Harr) Mine -Permit No. C-1980-006 .
Dear Jim Burnell:
This letter is in response to comments noted in your recent Inspection Report
dated 09-23-OS for the Kerr (Harr) Mine. One subject is Canada Thistle, the second is
rip-rap, size of rock.
Numerous azeas throughout the mine site were sprayed for Canada Thistle last
September, 2004. I am advised that the spray used, Tordon and Z-4-D, has a bi-annual
application term - -that the preferced application term is two years. Accordingly, we have
set a tentative schedule with the local weed coordinator to spray again next summer
(2006).
During August, 2005, we installed several rock dams in ditches at the mine site.
To the best of our knowledge, there is but one source of "angular" broken rock locally. In
effort to downsize the rip-rap that was on hand at the mine, the contractor sorted through
and hauled in their smallest angular rock which we blended/mixed with the larger sizes
that was stored at the mine. We hope that the combination of sizes will interlock
sufficiently to minimize erosion.
If you have any questions or comments on the matter, please contact me at your
convenience.
Sincerely, , /
p v.
rge , .Patterson
Gen Mine Manager
