Present during the inspection were Miss
Ashley Bates and Mr.Mark Klune the o13erator's representative.
1) Site used to be a112 sand and gravel operation covering approximately 67.8 acres.
2) It has been in reclamation for the past several years. Reclamation consisted of
lakes along the River or south si~e of the permit boundary.
3) The lakes are in place and bank embankments stable. Some tamarisk noted along the
embankments, however its close prdximity to the river will not allow the use of
chemicals and it is difficult to utilize mechanical equipments. In addition, even in
areas not affected by mining activity, Tamarisk is very prevalent, along the banks
of the river. i
4) The southern boundary used to fol~ow the river bank, however due to the changing
geomorphology of the river, it is adjusted accordingly.
S) The portion of the reclaimed area that is not part of the lakes appeared stable and
slopes were almost flat. Most of these areas were covered with a few grasses and
tall weeds, such as Kosha and othgr types of undesirable weeds. Even though noxious
weed infestation was not noted inithese areas, the Division recommends removing
these undesirable weeds. i
6) The operator plans to submit an a~endment to expand the mining operation, as soon as
favorable market for the product }s located.
7) The entire permit area is fenced and permit sign
the property.
