III. COMMENTS - COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations
made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during
the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection conducted by Kent Gorham of the Colorado Division of
Minerals and Geology. This former underground mine was reclaimed and reseeded in
1996 and early 1997. The mine has achieved a Phase II bond release for the
majority of the disturbed area. The ground was muddy in places due to recent snow
cover. The weather was overcast and cold.
Signs and Markers
The mine identification sign displays the information required by Rules 4.02 and
4.30.2. The sign is posted immediately north of the railroad tracks along the
mine access road.
Revegetation
The reclaimed facility area and the pond 2 reclamation were traversed on foot.
Winter conditions continue at this site. Vegetation remains dormant, likely until
soil temperatures warm. Soil moisture to a depth of 4 inches is excellent due to
a number of recent snowfalls. No sign of weed rosettes was noted
Overall, the site appeared in normal condition for the winter season. No problems
were found.
3
