Lochhead <br />Executive Director <br />Michael B. long <br />Division Duecmr <br />As a result of review by the Office of Mined Land Recl~Lmation of <br />your permit application, pertinent geology and geochemistry, and <br />recent inspection reports, you are hereby notified, pLtrsuant to <br />Rule 7.2 of the Mineral Rules and Regulations of the Colorado Mined <br />Land Reclamation Board, your mine, the Schwartzwalder Mine, Permit <br />No. M-77-300, has been determined by the Office to be a Designated <br />Mining Operation for the following reasons: <br />1) Toxic- or acid-forming materials are or will be exposed or <br />disturbed as a result of mining operations. Spe~~ifically, <br />ore and waste rock containing significant levels of <br />uranium and radium and their subsequent decay products are <br />and will be stockpiled on the site near Ralston Creek. <br />Uranium processing facilities are located on the surface <br />near Ralston Creek. <br />
