As a result of review by the Office of Mined Land Recl~Lmation of
your permit application, pertinent geology and geochemistry, and
recent inspection reports, you are hereby notified, pLtrsuant to
Rule 7.2 of the Mineral Rules and Regulations of the Colorado Mined
Land Reclamation Board, your mine, the Schwartzwalder Mine, Permit
No. M-77-300, has been determined by the Office to be a Designated
Mining Operation for the following reasons:
1) Toxic- or acid-forming materials are or will be exposed or
disturbed as a result of mining operations. Spe~~ifically,
ore and waste rock containing significant levels of
uranium and radium and their subsequent decay products are
and will be stockpiled on the site near Ralston Creek.
Uranium processing facilities are located on the surface
near Ralston Creek.
