III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made <br />during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the <br />inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />Cm January 23, 1997 William J. Carter from the Division of Minerals and Ge- <br />ology performed a partial inspection at Hawk's Nest Mine. The weather was <br />cloudy and snowing. The entire site was covered with 8 to 12 inches of snow, <br />therefore inspection was limited to general observations. <br />Roads• <br />The old State highway is in a reasonable condition considering the fact that <br />CDOT has not plowed it since this series of storms started. The road was pass- <br />able for the inspection. <br />Hydrologic Balance: <br />The sediment pond on the western portion of the property was dry except for <br />the snow that has fallen into it. <br />Slides and Damage: <br />No indication of settling, slides or other erosion was apparent during this in- <br />spection. <br />
