III. Comments/Compliance
This was a partial inspection conducted by Jim Burnell of CDMG on the afternoon of
Monday, April 12, 2004. This site was quiet and deserted. The weather was mild and
sunny, with standing water and mud remaining from weekend rains.
At the East Mine, in the reclaimed area below the road that damp. Vegetation has begun to
emerge for the spring. In particular, there is a good crop of whitetop developing on the slope
below the large boulder by the road.
Over most of the length of the area between the reclaimed area and the river is a small
berm. This berm is intact, except at one low point, and there is no sign of any sediment
transport into the river the whole way along the East Mine area. The roughened, uneven
surface of the reclaimed area has helped prevent erosion.
The slump area was seeping water. The road ditch east of the slump contained some
standing water; west of the slump, the ditch contained a great deal of standing water.
At the Middle Mine, there were no signs of erosion or instability that haven't been there
before.
