III. Comments/Compliance
This was a complete inspection of the North Thompson Creek Mine conducted by Jim
Burnell, accompanied by Jim Stark, both of CDMG, on Tuesday, August 23, 2005. The
site was deserted. The weather was warm and sunny.
The road was in good condition.
The portal area was stable with no sign of erosion. Vegetation was good.
Both portals were discharging water which was mixing above the "long pond."
The vegetation was good, dominated by crested wheatgrass. There was a good bit of
Canada thistle along the road and at the Long Pond and at the inlet to pond Pg.
The long pond itself contained cattails. The ditch had been stabilized with a 20-inch high
berm on the downhill side as abatement for the recent violation. Pond T1 embankments
were stable with no sign of erosion. The embankments were well vegetated. Pond T2 was
stable. Pond P9 contained some water. The emergency spillway was stable.
