•
III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations
made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during
the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
A partial inspection of the mine site was conducted on March 21, 2001. The skies were overcast,
but the temperatures were in the upper 40's. It was very windy. Snow is starting to melt at the
mine, the south facing slopes are mostly snow free and muddy. North facing slopes and draws are
snow covered. No one was at the mine site, however there were recent tire tracks on the entrance
road and at the shop/warehouse area.
The entrance road is mostly dry. Access roads to Pond A and B are still snow covered.
Ponds C, D, E, F and G were observed during this inspection. The water level in all these ponds is
well below the primary spillway, and there was no discharge.
A spoil monitoring well has been installed as required by the permit. Now would be a good time to
broadcast seed the drill pad.
The shop/warehouse area is muddy. The trailers have yet to be moved. There are also some old
barrels, containers, pipe and other debris that needs to be removed on the north end. The weather
station is not functioning and it could also be removed.
