(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: nn-t 99~_m A
INSPECTION DATE: ~-t~-n~ INSPECTOR=S INITIALS: ~_
OBSERVATIONS
Completed apre-operation inspection of this site pursuant to requirements of Rule 3.2(7). The operator
submitted an amendment application to increase the permit acreage. The proposed expanded acreage lies
south of the existing permit. The operator proposes to excavate the 30-50 foot gravel layers that form the top of
the hill outcrops in the expanded acreage. The hilly areas total about 400 acres within the 2,260 proposed
expanded acreage.
Drove to and reviewed a new road which traverses a portion of the proposed expanded area. This road is just a
realignment of County Road 112. The project was funded by Holcim, Inc. according to the applicant so the
existing county road around the cement plant could be abandoned and reclaimed. Other road projects
include installing a culvert under the existing road near the power line ROW and widening the road for a short
distance.
Observed a drilling crew in the canal ROW. They said they were testing the soils to determine the depth to
bedrock for a new bridge over the canal. The old existing bridge is deteriorating (wood is rotting).
As noted above, the operator proposes to mine the hill fops within the expanded area so most of the proposed
expanded area will not be disturbed.
The operator has agreed not to mine within 200 feet of the existing man-made structures (sub-station, power
lines, irrigation canal, etc.) so the mining operation will not adversely affect the stability of the significant man-
made structures.
Did not observe any obvious problems.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Tom Smith
OPERATOR: Rocky Mtn.
