-.
III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made during
the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the
facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a complete inspection of the Chimney Rock Mine for the month of July, 2001.
RECORDS: Records were inspected and found to be relatively satisfactory. See page 5 of this report for
further details.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE: All ponds have been removed and final drainages have been established.
The highway diversion culvert installed last fall is functioning well. Waterbars have been reinstalled on the
road leading up the East Pit and the road is in fine shape. Just outside the mine perimeter, along the road
adjacent to the East pit, the highway runoff has eroded a significant channel which may end up eroding
a portion of the ripraped channel. This matter needs to be resolved by either the county or the mine.
GENERAL MINE COMPLIANCE: The site is stable and fairly well maintained. The hot arid climate has
parched the vegetation and alyssum seems to be the predominant plant that is prevalent.
Permit Number C i q g~ D 23
Class' ^Pennit
Section/Exhibit
Class: ^ Revision _._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._. _._._._._._._._
i_ TYPe/Seq. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ ___ _ ___________ _____'
Class: ^ Report O Hydro ^Gene21
Doc Type:
DAppliwtion (Coal only) O Band ^ Enforcehment Inspection
LOQ (
