III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE ~~ ~~ ~~(r~
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations
made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during
the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a complete inspection of the Hayden Gulch Mine conducted by Jim Stark of
CDMG. The mine site is reclaimed. The weather was cold and overcast and the
ground was covered with several inches of snow.
Availability of Records: All of the required records were available at the Montgomery
Watson Harza office in Steamboat Springs. See the records checklist at the end of
this report for more detailed information.
Signs and Markers: All of the permit boundary and mine ID signs were posted. The
fences around the three shrub parcels were in good condition and marked.
Hydrologic Balance: -All of the ponds are permitted as permanent. Pond 003
contained a small amount of water but was not discharging. The pond was covered
with snow but appeared to be well vegetated and appeared to be in good
condition.
- Pond HG-8 also contained water. This pond was not discharging either. The pond
was also covered with snow but appeared to be well vegetated and appeared to
be in good condition.
Fish and Wildlife: No wildlife was observed at the mine site at the time of the
inspection.
Reveaetation/Reclamation Success: Only shrub parcels HG-08 and 003 (the parcels
adjacent to the county road) were accessible at the time of the inspection. Both
were covered with snow but they appeared to be stable and in good condition.
Slides and Damage: The 1994 slide area was not accessible at the time of the
inspection. With it now being winter, this area will not be accessible until late spring.
