(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: _~G-t990-7 l~
INSPECTION DATE; ~-t~-n5
OBSERVATIONS
INSPECTOR=S INITIALS: -LDQ
KLS
This inspection was conducted to monitor Lafarge West, Ines compliance with the permit and regulations. Phil Courtney represented
the operator and accompanied the inspectors.
A sign idenfifying the operator is posted at the entrance; however, the sign does not comply with the requirements of Rule 3.1.12.
Lafarge must add the information to the sign that permit No. M-1990-112 was issued by the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board.
The permit and affected land boundaries are clearly marked. The operation is within the affected land boundary.
A large portion of the mined area has been graded in preparation for replacement of topsoil. Since a significant portion of the
earthwork has been completed the $103,925.00 financial warranty is adequate.
A power line and a gas line cross the permit area and the operator has taken the necessary precautions to keep the gravel extraction and
other operations the required distance from the utilities.
The inspectors observed that a small area of the total extraction area was being mined on the south side of the operation without 5rst
salvaging all f the topsoil. Lafarge is cautioned to be sure to salvage all topsoil prior to extraction of the gavel resource. Topsoil
salvage overall is satisfactory.
Small tamarisk plants were observed on some areas being prepared for final reclamation. Tamarisk is a State listed noxious weed, and
Lafarge must destroy these plants. The pemtit does not include a weed conhol plan. Lafarge must Submit a technical revision to the
permit Reclamation Plan to incorporate noxious weed tnanagement.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Eric Reckentine
OPERATOR: Lafarge West.
