Mr. Boyd Aetemboreki was the operator's representative present during the inspection
and the landowner, Nr. R.L. Robeson, was also present.
The site ie situated on a stream terrace about 75 vertical feet above the Middle Fork of the
South Platte River which serves as the northern boundary of the permit. The only equipment
present was a front end loader. Mr. Aetemboreki ie using this to push oversize rock ngainet
the steep western highwall.
The mud spill, located in the northeastern portion of the permit, had occurred after fines
removed from the settling pond were placed along the edge of the terrace above the Middle
Fork. About half of this material had spilled down the edge of the terrace and onto the
lower stream bank beside the Middle Fork. The other half remained on the edge of the upper
terrace and this was pulled away from the edge to prevent it from eliding down toward the
river. A 5 foot berm of oversize material was placed along the edge of the terrace in the
area where the elide had originated. The toe of the elide along the river had been removed
and spread out along the bank and a three foot high berm was constructed along the river edge
to prevent any fines from entering the river.
Three rock berme had been constructed at intervals along the terrace elope to catch any fines
still present along the path of the spill. A seed mix was broadcast along the path of the
elide, on the toe of the elide and in the areas along the river edge where the fine material
from the toe had been spread. This mix had germinated and was coming in rather uniformly in
the area. Willow shoots had been planted in the area of the toe along the river edge and
also appeared to be doing well.
This response is commendable and satisfies the requirements for corrective action no. 2 in
the 7/29/94 inspection report.
I & E Contact Address
NAME CLIFF PRIDEMORE
OPERATOR PRIDEMORE CONSTRUCTION
STREET 12750 STATE HIGHWAY 291
CITY/STATE/ZIP SALIDA, COLORADO 81201
cc: CARL MOUNT, DMG
^ CE
^ BL
^ FS
^ HW
^ HMWMD (CH)
^ SE
^ WQCD (CH)
^ OTHER
