Jim said he was looking into equipment and <br />chemicals to treat the weeds. <br />Contour Furrows: <br />The contour furrows look like they worked quite successfully. Some have <br />filled with sediment and overtopped, but I saw very little erosion below <br />the furrows. The furrows are smaller than I expected and it is now my <br />belief that the furrows may eventually fill in and erode away sufficiently <br />to blend into the landscape. <br />Vegetation: <br />The 1st year cereal crop has reinvaded and once again dominates the site. <br />I saw very little perennial vegetation from last fall's seeding. <br />There was an area in the north end, about 1 acre in size, which was devoid <br />of cereal grains. The only perennial plant in the drill rows was an over <br />abundant crop of Lewis flax.
