c
III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the
inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a complete inspection of the Chimney Rock Mine for the month of November, 1998.
RECORDS: Records were inspected and found to be relatively satisfactory but sfi//in disarray.
See page 5 of this report for more details. Note, if the filing and organization of the reports and
revisions is not corrected by the next complete inspection, an NOV wi!/ be issued. Too much
time is wasted in searching through piles of documents and erroneously filed information.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE: All ponds have been removed and final drainages have been established.
No signs of any significant erosion was observed.
GENERAL MINE COMPLIANCE: The low spot west of the large maintenance building still requires
filling in and seeded as it is no longer a part of the drainage control system.
RECLAMATION SUCCESS: This years growing season has concluded and the reseeded ponds
and ditches were dominated by annual weed growth. It is expected that next years growth will
show more of the grasses and fortis that were planted.
