III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection
and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action
This was an aerial inspection flown by Harry Ranney of the Colorado Division of Minerals
and Geology (Division) Oblique aerial photographs were reviewed in the office by Kent
Gorham of the Division. This processing and loadout site has been inactive since June 2001
after the closure of the Lorencito Mine (#C-96-084). Ground conditions on this day appeared
very dry which is consistent with the extended severe drought gripping the area.
Processing Waste
The processing waste
pile appears unchanged
from previous inspections
this year. Some work on
the conveyor may have
occurred since the last
inspection. The pile
appears stable with no
visible sign of damage.
Very small puddles of
water are visible in a
number of places on the
surface. indicating some
recent rainfall.
Hydrologic Balance
Pond 8 held a small amount of water in the area recently cleaned of sediment. Pond 7 also
held a small puddle of water.
