III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspecton. The comments include discussion of observations <br />made during the inspection. Comments rn Secrion IV describe any enforcement actions <br />token during the Inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />in 10 seconds (0.19 gallon/minute or 0.0004 cubic feet/second). The pH of this <br />discharge was 7.5 and the TDS was 250 mg/I. <br />A third spring was located in colluvium materials <br />to the southwest of the first switchback on the <br />road. This are Is adjacent to a tributary from the <br />southwest, and may be associated with this <br />hydraulic regime. However. it is also located <br />directly below apre-law sealed mine portal. TDS <br />was measured as 70, and the pH as 11(?). <br />highest portions of the permit area, <br />but none in the portal or faciilties <br />areas. There was no evidence of <br />overland drainage flow in these <br />disturbed areas of the permit. A <br />tributary from the southwest flows <br />through a culvert under the Stoney <br />Ridge Fan Shaff Road. The flow was <br />estimated at 1 gallon/second (60 <br />gallons/minute or 0.134 cubic <br />Although <br />not a <br />discharge <br />subject to <br />this perrn~i <br />discharge <br />from Portal <br />2 was <br />examined. <br />This <br />discharge, <br />at o flow rate of 1 gallon par 55 ;r-c~_,i ~~~_f~ (1 Ci9 <br />gallon per mi nute or 0.0024 cubic feet per <br />second),was clear, with a pH of 8,2 and TDS of <br />1780 mg/I. <br />C-81-025, Page _$_ of _$_ Pages, idatel _27 May 03~, linitialsr _BGW_ <br />
