` Ff~E1VIONT PING and REDI-~IIX, INC.
839 MacKenzie Avenue
P.O. Box 841
Canon City, Colorado 87212
Telephone:
(Bus.) 2753264
apes.) 2758200
surface of mined area, and 8' to 10' of gravel remains above the sand-
stone, Now, the recycling ponds for the concrete aggregate wash plant
were ripped out of the dry sandstone and the water in them is piunped
in from an irrigation xell over the hill to the west. The land and
well, and all water rights belong to John and Phyllis Ary, who are the
president and treasurer, respectively, of Fremont Paving b Redi-Mix,
Inc. The water is pumped daily so stagnation should not be a problem.
We, also, use two to four thousand gallons of the water a day for the
concrete hatching operation.
This property has a well permit and a share of irrigation ditch water,
but the well will not produce enough water to keep up with the xashing
operation, and, of course, irrigation water is no[ in the ditch year
round.
As a note of interest, one of the parties doing most of the complain-
ing about our operation, had, at the time of our purchase, a sewer
line dumping raw sewage on our property, not over 75' from the shop
building, directly over the underground water flow. We got permis-
sion from the property owner to install a septic system on their pro-
perty at our expense, not because we were so concerned over water
quality, as it seems this party is, but we needed to mine the mat-
erial involved, so as to clean up and straighten up the shop yard area.
It is, indeed, comforting to know you have friends and neighbors who
rejoice in reaping the harvest of ones efforts to help the local
economy, and goodness knows, it needs all the help it can get, and yet
do everything they can to discourage every attempt that is made to
improve the community. We would have been better off to have taken
what small profit the economy allows at this time, and put it in our
pocket rather than place it back to improve our image and operation.
6. The active vertical face was not sloped back the last set because
the crusher was to return in two weeks to finish the final phase of
production for this year's estimate. However, we were not pressed for
material, so they are crushing out a State Highway job in the San Luis
Valley, It will probably be another two weeks from this date before
they return.
I apologize for having written such a lengthy report, but 1 felt it
necessary to try to clarify our planning. I sincerely hope to have
cleared up questions that your inspection brought to light. Any fur-
ther questions, please call me collect at 275-3264 or 275-8200.
Page 3
ASPHALT CONCRETE SAND & GRAVEL
Equal Opportunity Employer
