I
OBSERVATIONS
This was an illegal inspection conducted by Tony Waldron of DMG. There was no operator
representative present during the inspection. The site is located in Section 6, Township 28
S, Range 68 W of the 6th P.M. in Huerfano County, Colorado.
There is a small pit at this location of approximately 1 acre in size. The walls of the pit
have been graded to approximately 3H:iV. Just north of the pit is a sizable stockpile of
road surfacing material and there is a topsoil stockpile along the west side of the
disturbance. The entire disturbance covered approximately 2-3 acres.
This ranch has been subdivided into smaller acreages and as a result of this subdivision, a
number of roads have been built throughout the ranch. This roads appear to have been
surfaced with the same material that is located in the mine stockpile. During the course of
this inspection, no observations were made of material being used on the ranch or being
removed from the ranch property.
There is no record of the landowner petitioning for an exemption from obtaining a reclamation
permit, however, the activities observed during this inspection appear to fall into one of
the categories listed under rule 1.2 .2 of the Construction Materials Rules and Regulations
of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board which identifies various activities where a
permit is not required. However, an "Is it Mining" questionnaire is being sent to the
landowner/developer of this property to verify this observation.
I & E Contact Address cc: Jim Stevens
❑ CE
NAME Maiors Ranch ❑ BL
OPERATOR Red Creek Ranch R A v%,. , 0 sr;,_ ❑ FS
STREET 7600 I-25 South ❑ HW
CITY/STATE/ZIP Pueblo.
