Iil. COMMENTS • COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion.of observations.made
daring the inspection: Comments also describe any enforcement actions-taken during the inspection
and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. .
This was an aerial inspection that was flown on August 10, 2004: On August 17, 2004, the digital
images from the overflightwere reviewed. There were no reports of compliance problems at the mine
site during the overflight.
Roads
The paved main haul road was in good condition, as was the bridge. However, it appeazs that the
adjacent landowner has erected a lazge above-ground swimming pool, the water from which is draining
down the hill slope and onto the road. This does not appeaz to be a problem by itself unless the water
brings sediment onto the paved haul road and/or destabilizes the slope above the road.
Hvdioloev
There was a small amount of standing water in the sediment pond. The Edwazds Mine portal spring
water treatment pond had the usual volume of water in it. Pond embankments appeazed to be stable, as
were pond inslopes.
Facilities
There.were no problems observed with the mine office building.
S1oQe Stability
There were no signs of instability with the reclaimed hillside road and benches, although the hill side
to the west continues to come down.
c:/word/beaz3/insp0804
