III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE /I/H_ ~, ~ ~p -dab
P~Yi 1g~~N~ y o~- ~
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations
made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during
the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection of the Marr Mine conducted by Jim Stark of CDMG. The
mine has been reclaimed and has undergone a Phase I bond release for the entire
site and a Phase II bond release for the 720 Pit and Pit 1. The weather was warm and
sunny and the ground was dry.
Signs and Markers: All of the necessary signs were posted at the mine site and
loadout (Mine ID signs, topsoil stockpile signs, permit boundary signs, etc.).
Roads: -The access road to the loadout was well maintained and in good condition.
- The permanent light use road (former haul road) that remains on the site is also well
maintained and in good condition. Some minor rutting has occurred due to use
during the winter but it is still not a problem.
Hvdroloclic Balance: - Pond A was dry. The pond was well vegetated and in good
condition.
- Ponds B was dry. The pond was well vegetated and in good condition.
- Pond C was dry. The pond was well vegetated and in good condition.
- Pond D contained a very small amount of water but was not discharging. The pond
was well vegetated and in good condition.
- Pond E was dry. The pond was well vegetated and in good condition.
- Pond F was dry. It was well vegetated and in good condition.
- Pond G was dry. It was well vegetated and in good condition.
- All four of the permanent drainages (PD1 and PD2 in the 720 Pit, PD3 in Pit 1 and
PD4, also in Pit 1) were well vegetated and in good condition. None of the
drainages showed any signs of erosion.
- The pond at the loadout contained water several feet below the discharge pipe.
The pond was well vegetated and in good condition.
Fish and Wildlife: There were several antelope grazing on the reclaimed Marr Pit
areas.
Reveaetation/Reclamation Success: The entire mine site has been revegetated. The
vegetative cover looked good, Many of the grasses appeared to be dormant,
though, due to the very dry conditions of the area. The mine was used for grazing
last month. There did not appear to be any ill effects from the grazing at the time of
the inspection.
