The 125
permitted acres lie in Sections 2 and 21 of Tt3S, R91W, and Section 35
and Lo[s 19, 20, 21, of T12S, R91W.
Most coal produced is trucked to Colorado Westmoreland, with a small amount
of lump coal going to assorted buyers. Disturbed area covers 11 acres.
After mining, the site will be returned to its pre-mining use as a range
and wildlife habitat.
REGION V ON-SITE INSPECTION REPORT
SUNFLOWER ENERGY CORPORATION
BU LE RIBBON MINE
Star Route Box l5
Paonia, Colorado 81428
(303) 929-5911
February 12, 1980
11:45 a.m.
Cool, clear, dry
Delta, Colorado
Dave Asher, and Kent Fischer
Marianne Adams, and Eileen Doherty
U. OSM plan approval is pending. There are questions
concerning the permanency of the sediment pond, and discharge from
the pond. If the pond is going to be a permanent impoundment, the
operator feels that he should not be required to post a reclamation
bond for the affected acreage. (See Section 717.17 for further
hydrologic notes)
The Blue Ribbon Mine has a scale site on Colorado highway 133. It
encompasses approximately 0.7 acre. The State has required the
area be included in the permit, which has been done. It is a self-
service scale used by several mines in [he area.
717.12 Signs and Markers
The mine identification sign was placed at an access point to the
mine. It had been knocked over and plopped back up against a rock.
The sign needs to be secured in a stable position.
