This was a complete inspection conducted by Kent Gorham of the Colorado Division of
Reclamation, Mining, and Safety (Division). This mine is bond revoked. Ground conditions
were dry and the weather was excellent.
Roads
The road passing through the north end of the East Pit and West Pit was traversed on fool
and appeared easily passable Rough conditions previously observed appeared to have
been mitigated to some extent where pit drainage crosses the road.
~drologic Balance
Due to long lengths of slopes and poor cohesion of soils cover coupled with sparse
vegetation rills and gullies developed rapidly after reclamation of the East and West Pits was
completed Erosion has slowed due to establishment of grasses on fortis but is likely to
continue. especially from larger storm event runoff and/or heavy snowmelt Headcuttmg of
the rills and gullies along with deposition of eroded material in shallow grade areas will be the
main problem that will continue.
