(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-1978-168
INSPECTION DATE 1-28-2004 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS SSS
OBSERVATIONS
This was a routine monitoring inspection conducted as part of DMG's ongoing monitoring program for permitted mines in
Colorado.
The mine identification sign and affected area boundary markers are in place and in compliance with Rule 3.1.12.
This was a poor time of year to follow up on the knapweed problem noted in the previous inspection report. The thick
infestations of knapweed were not noted, but that does not mean they are nopt still a problem. DMG records do not include any
records indicating that Delta County has taken any measures to control these weed patches, though they do indicate that the
county-wide weed program would spray them. To correct the weed infestation problem noted in the previous report, Delta
County should submit any documentation indicating that the weed problem at this site has been routinely treated since this
problem was noted by DMG.
A small area on the south end of the site was noted where site runoff reports to the irrigation ditch that is adjacent to the pit
boundary in that location. This runoff does not pass through a sedimentation or settling pond prior to this off-site discharge. No
water was flowing at this time, and it is not known if this discharge could carry heavy sediment to the ditch. Delta County will
need to monitor this location to ensure discharge from the site is clean, or install a sediment control feature to ensure all
discharge from the site is in compliance with requirements of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment -
Water Quality Control Division.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Steve Shuey at the Division of Minerals and Geology, Grand Junction
Field Office, 101 South 3`" Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, phone number 970-243-6368.
I & E Contact Address
NAME
OPERATOR
STREET
CITY/STATE/ZIP
Larrv Record
Delta County
501 Palmer Street.
