Recent <br />talks vnlh the landowner have enabled Routt County to mine this site again, <br />The Red Rock Pit has been partially mined and almost no topsoil has been saved. Photos and observations of the site still <br />indicate that plants grow best on the brownish to grapsh surface material and all of this material enwuntered in future mining <br />efforts should be saved to help with reclamation of the sde following mining. The reddish material that is being mined does not <br />have substantial vegetation on d at this time even after several growing seasons with no mining (see picture #1). <br />There has been almost no change to the pit since rt was last inspected on June 5, 2005. Routt County may have plans to mine <br />This area in the near future.
