Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during
the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a complete inspection of the Twin Pines Mine conducted by Jim Stark of
CDMG. The bond for this site was forteited affer reclamation was completed. The
weather cool and sunny and, despite getting rain the previous day, the ground was
dry.
The portal area is well vegetated and in good condition. The area has been very dry
so some of the vegetation still appears to be dormant. The upper part of the road to
the portal area is showing some minor rilling but is in overall good shape. This upper
part of the road is also beginning to fill in with vegetation. The remaining sediment
pond at the portal bench was well vegetated and in good condition. This sediment
pond was dry at the time of the inspection. The remaining highwall still appears to
be stable and in good condition.
The coal sales/tipple area was well vegetated and in good condition. This area has
also been very dry and much of the vegetation at this part of the mine also appears
to be dormant. The area has been grazed thisspring and summer but there was no
active grazing at the time of the inspection. The remaining sediment pond
contained a small amount of water in the bottom. The pond appeared to be well
vegetated and in good condition. The access road is a county road, which was well
maintained and in good condition.
Overall both areas at the Twin Pines Mine are in good condition.
