(M-1977-020)"Reclamation Progress Report'~f'"
f~o6lerx Cerre~-~o~ ~ror+a A-(8-oy (nsp~cfu.~'~
Mr. Shuey:
United Companies has done the agreed reclamation work on the west, south and part of
the east slopes of the `Black" amendment at this location.
Along the south side we reshaped the berm that runs parallel to the railroad tracks from
its original slope to approximately a three to one slope.
On the pit side of this berm we installed three additional drain areas at the bottom of the
pit slope. Enclosed photos show the installation of these drains. We excavated through
the slope to the vertical pit wall, then brought in concrete rubble and placed it from the pit
wall out to the toe of the new three to one slope. The size of these three concrete rubble
areas varied but were about twenty feet wide by ten feet high. We now have a total of
five porous under drains along the pit slope that run parallel to the railroad tracks.
Once these drains were in place we constructed the interior pit wall to a three to slope
using pit run and stockpiled overburden placed by trucks and dozers. This material was
packed by repeated passes of our D-8 dozer. As we neared the top of the three to one
slope we did out best to use soil with a minimum of rock.
This slope construction was continued along the west side of the property and part of the
east side in front of Mr. Black's house. The enclosed photos show how the place took
shape as we did our work.
I had W. D. Yards (lawn care professional) look over the area and advise me whether or
not to seed at this time. The recommendation was to wait until fall, then "dimple "the
surface, then seed.
