M~nE'd Land
Reclamation Division
Dear Sir:
~ For the past 19 years I have observed a surface mining operation
removing decomposed granite/clay mix from a site measurin~t about
450 feet X $00 feet.
The site is located about 650 feet north of U.S. Highway :?4
between mile marker 269 and 270 in the Town of Florissant„ Teller
County, Colorado.
Legal description: NE-'h NE,q SE4 Sec. 2 T.13S. R.71W. 6th pm.
In 198o the Highway Department identified this site on their map
as a depleted gravel pit.
There is a question as to whether this is a registered operation ?
The operator seldom maintains the proper slope and grade. Increased
activity in the last few years raises a second question as to
whether sufficient material remains to perform reclamatiwi required
K by bond ?
i~~~V, in that your office is the Official Licensing Authority I would
'~~ appreciate your comments.
Al ~b ~ ~~ 11 v~ ' ~,~}
C~ ~ ~ ~ • ~ Q
~~ 1~b ` Inc '~~ Sincerely, ~~~
\ "~•~ ~ ~^,$~/~0~~' ~• Cliff Reid
~ - - -
Encl: Site location map
xc: file
