III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection The comments include discussion of observations made <br />during the mspect~on Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection <br />and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />This was a partial inspection conducted by Kent Gorham of the Colorado Division of Minerals <br />and Geology (DMGj. This mine has closed and reclamation of most areas is complete. <br />Ground conditions were dry and the weather was mild and breezy. <br />Roads <br />The mine access road was dry. Water bars remain to be regraded to improve vehicle <br />crossing and reduce roughness. <br />Hvdrolooic Balance <br />Sediment pond 5 was observed dry. The outlet gate located at the bottom of the principle <br />spillway riser was noted welded shut. The rod leading to the screw-type opening device was <br />also broken off near the gate. This only affects the ability to self-dewater the pond and does <br />not jeopardize sediment treatment capab~lit~es. <br />TOp50i1 <br />The reclaimed <br />footprint of the ~.- - - . <br />former topsoil pile at <br />the Newlin Creek <br />mine site was <br />inspected. <br />Vegetation is coming r~ ~~ ,~ ~~~~i __ ' <br />on for the season.
